Putting "Community" in Community Banking

Our Difference

It only takes a quick glance around the block to realize competition in the financial industry is deep. Banks on every corner offer similar products and they all tout great customer service. So, what sets your bank—HeritageBank of the South—apart from the competition? The answer can be found in your community.

Of course, at HeritageBank of the South, we pride ourselves on our innovative products, convenient services and an outstanding team of bankers, but it’s our focus on community that drives our organization. As your community bank, we believe our success is tied to the vitality of the communities we serve. So, as we see it, when HeritageBank invests in the local organizations that strengthen your community, we all benefit.

This connection to community defines who we are. Instead of relying on expensive, mass advertising like our larger competitors, we encourage our team members to get out and get involved. Our bankers are committee members, fund raisers and advocates for many of the local organizations that meet the needs of your community.

Contributing to our Communities

Here are just a handful of events and organizations in which our bankers are proud to serve:

One of the most valuable assets in a community is its small businesses. As members of the Ocala/Marion County Chamber & Economic Partnership, the Ocala team assists in recruiting new businesses to the area as well as helping existing businesses grow and expand their operations.

In Sylvester, taking care of the community means taking care of everyone in the community—two-legged and four-legged. As a corporate sponsor of the Best Friends Humane Society, the Sylvester team is able to help find loving homes for animals in their community. Visit the HBOS team on April 19th at the annual Bark in the Park Festival.

The United Way of Southwest Georgia provides funding and support for many of the community’s most needed non-profit organizations. Each year, members of the HeritageBank team donate a portion of their paychecks to help the United Way causes. But, that wasn’t enough for some of our Albany team members who took to the street for the United Way’s Day of Caring last April.

Since 1982, the International Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon has been a national attraction. Throughout the month of March, activities and events highlight the dynamic culture and economy of the Macon area. For the second year in a row, our Macon team sponsored one of the most popular festival events called Party on the Green, a music concert the whole community gets to enjoy.

Every child deserves to experience the magic of Christmas. And, while all of the HBOS locations contribute toys for children in their community, the Reidsville team has taken this mission to heart. Each year the East Georgia team and their customers go above and beyond to ensure their Toys for Tots boxes are full when Sgt. Haynes of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation arrives for pick up.

Effingham, Valdosta, Albany and Statesboro

Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. So, Effingham, Valdosta, Albany and Statesboro team members are standing up to this disease.  Each year, team members in these communities work together to collect donations and support the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events.
